Keys handed over at City's R45m Pooke se Bos infill housing project

The City’s Human Settlements Directorate handed over 15 Breaking New Ground (BNG) opportunities to qualifying beneficiaries of its R45 million Pooke se Bos infill housing project in Gatesville today, 12 December 2022. The project will provide 135 affordable housing opportunities for the residents of the Pooke se Bos informal settlement. 

'We are pleased that these qualifying beneficiaries, some who are among the poorest in the metro, will celebrate the festive season in their new homes.

'We are pleased that these qualifying beneficiaries, some who are among the poorest in the metro, will celebrate the festive season in their new homes.

'The entire project is expected to be completed in April 2023, if all goes as planned. This is a very special project as opportunities are being provided for residents of the existing Pooke se Bos informal settlement. The City remains committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable Capetonians are assisted with affordable housing opportunities across the metro.

'We thank the project teams, contractors and, importantly, the community and beneficiaries for working with us while we complete the project and provide opportunities to the beneficiaries,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi.
